Inside 'n Out

I feel as if all of a very sudden, i have been very much on the other side of the glass without a choice, (hello force ten gales and rain so wet i might as well have brought the soap and shampoo with me and saved an extra hour for zzz-ing) and so... As i am currently on a long run of days at work before a few days off after next week, i feel as if my little self has hardly seen daylight, let alone had the skill or urge to not-so-perfectly frame a picture. Watching the sun come up over the rooftops with an oversized wooly jumper over my pyjamas and a big huge mug of Lady Grey in my hands is the only way to make early mornings bearable when i would much rather have my head in quilt cover city, like... Lately mornings have suddenly jumped to those of the wintery kind, as the first spots of Although the Pashley always has my heart, she doesn't fair quite so well in this erratic weather we have been having. Or dark blue jeans and the Mr's oversized slouchy grey jumper. Extra hour of sleep and for the mornings to be lighter once more. These two have got me home from work safe and dry and nothing beats singing loud and out of tune to the radio with the heat on full whilst the lights turn to trousers. Huge bouts of grateful-ness have gone out to the Mr and Henry Ford recently. the days are just flying by and disappearing right before my peepers.

how would is say this in spanish? 10 POINTS!?

Hello, When I went to the hotel I stayed in room 6. There was no telephone or a hair dryer however there was a tree outside but there was no room service. I had no hot water but there was a gym, a beauty salon, hair dresser and there was no casino. The worst thing was that there was no television and there was no air conditioning because it was broken. There was also a cockroach. I stayed for three nights in a single room from the 27th to the 28th July 2013. The hotel has one hundred rooms but I only had one. There was no phone or a balcony but there was a double bed even though I was alone. There was a wardrobe, sheets, carpet, mirror and curtains. There was also some heating and a lamp. The sink was broken because it had no hot water and the shower broke too. The soap was mouldy and there was no towel. I only had cold water. Some good things were that I could see the sea from my window and I could see the beach too. However I couldn’t see the mountains, a lake or the streets. In the restaurant there were 10 waiters and 50 tables. There was 200 chairs and the food was delicious. However my cutlery was rusty and dirty. The bottled wine was great! I had tomato soup but there was hair in it. I also had olives and they were delicious! The orange juice had bits in it which I didn’t like. The restaurant was ok but I like to go to other restaurants because they are better quality than the hotel restaurant. There was a clothes shop where I still like to buy shorts and t-shirts. The t-shirts are less expensive than the shorts. There was a jewellery shop by the hotel and I am wearing some jewellery from there today. The bakery had amazing bread and the cake shop was excellent. There wasn’t a library but there was a clothes shop and a shoe shop. I bought lots of stuff. Bye!

This is deplorable writing, full of contradictions. Here is a literal translation, contradictions and all: Hola, Cuando fui al hotel me quede en el cuarto 6. Compre muchas cosas. Adios!

I'm not sure which bedding you were going for but with your green paint I loved the white ruffle comforter or bedspread which ever it was. I also loved the green and white chevron stripe throw rug that was with it. I think it might be a little too much to have the wine bottle flower vases the butterfly and skull prints and the string lights all above the desk, but spread around the room would be very nice. This is a color and texture combination that will fit well for many years ahead with just a few changes in wall decor as your taste changes.

Blender 2.5 Lighting and Rendering, Bring Your 3D World to Life with Lighting, Compositing, and Rendering

Creator: Aaron W. Powell | Blender (Computer file) - 2010

Our background looks good, but we still need to light our wine bottle. Let's set up another light rig to do this. To start: 1. Add another Spot lamp. 2. Position it so it's to the left of our wine bottle in the image, just in front of it, and looking down on it ...

About this book
Annotation Blender 3D is a popular, open source modeling and animation package. It is used for game design, architectural visualization, character design, animation, and still images. However, creating believable lighting and texturing is difficult in any 3D program. This step-by-step tutorial aims to familiarize you with Blender's new interface and basic features as well as take a look at what it takes to produce a believable scene using lighting, texturing, compositing, and rendering.By using the example of a tricycle in an outdoor scene you will learn to establish an effective workflow to increase your productivity. You will also thoroughly studying the scene and deciding how your tricycle would look on a sunny, cloudless day using Blender lamps. Not just that, you will also learn to implement your decisions by applying a 3-point light rig, adjusting the color of the lights, adding shadows, and using light groups to control the lighting. You will learn to add ambient occlusion effects to your scene by using both ray-traced and approximated ambient occlusion algorithms. A mesh example shows you how to give a particular look or "feel" by adding and editing materials. You will light a wine bottle on a table by taking a look at lighting interior spaces and how to create complex light rigs and custom UV textures for your scenes using Blender's UV editing capabilities. You will create a custom UV map, export it as a file type Blender can read, and finally add your UV map to the wine bottle mesh. In the same example you will add wood material to booths. You will further enhance the background by adding wallpaper, giving color and metallic tint to the lamps, and adding material to light bulbs. You will look at lighting techniques used in scenes that include both interior and exterior light sources in a scene that has sunlight traveling in through the window and a light bulb hanging from the ceiling.A step-by-step guide, with practical examples, that builds up your knowledge of lighting and rendering in Blender and helps you to implement these various techniques in your own workWhat you will learn from this book :Optimize Blender's Internal Renderer for your projectsEstablish a well-tested and efficient workflow to constantly produce high-quality workApply both ray-traced and approximated ambient occlusion to your sceneConfigure the default settings of ambient occlusion by manipulating parameters such as Sampling, Attenuation, and InfluenceConfigure settings found with Blender's materials to create, duplicate, and add special effects such as transparency and reflections to your materialsModify World settings to add a gradient effect to the background to create a more interesting renderSeparate your scene into layers to light the scene using a complex light rigConstruct a complex light rig and link lights to specific layersAdd indirect lighting and integrate it with your sceneAdd textures to materialsEnhance your scene by using Blender's node compositorSimulate light "bending" with 3D lighting techniquesIlluminate dark corners and crevices in your scene using ambient lightSet up the basic material and then add textures and look at many different materials with varying properties such as plastic, metal, glass, wood, brick, marble, and concreteApproachEach chapter develops a different aspect of a Blender technique. The book is essentially a step-by-step tutorial, which builds up your knowledge throughout. It has practical examples such as lighting a tricycle in open space, lighting a wine bottle on a table, and lighting a room that has a lamp as well as sunlight coming in through the window. These examples will show you how to implement the different Blender techniques in your work.Who this book is written forIf you are a Blender user and you want to improve the quality of your renders, this book is for you. Trifles Make Perfection

About this book
JOSEPH WECHSBERG, was among a generation of writers that included M.F.K. Fisher, A.J. Liebling, and Ludwig Bemelmans. Many of them found a home for their work at The New Yorker and were given carte blanche to tackle any subject they found appealing. For Wechsberg, this included most of what he perceived as the cultural life of the civilized world: music, food, travel, and the history of banking and finance. Always central to these essays and portraits were men of acknowledged accomplishment, whose lives he tried to understand in both the contexts of their own personalities and of the cultures that shaped them. Wechsberg was a man who valued perfection for its own sake, seeing its quest as worthy and its attainment as eminently possible. Reading him is like fine dining: the food is exquisite, the choice of wine perfect, and one leaves the experience feeling warmed, flattered, and fulfilled. This generous selection of his very best, now in paperback, is sure to satisfy any civilized palate.

This review is from: Oenophilia Afterglow Bottle Wicks, Beige - Set of 2 (Kitchen) Unfortunately, the wicks don't reach the bottom of the bottle. But, for those who haven't used these before, simply add water to fill bottle as full as you want it. Parrafin liguid lamp oil floats above the water. Simply, huh? Or, if you use a clear bottle, fill the bottom with something pretty, rocks, marbles, etc. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , March 6, 2013

Works very well if done right

My wife and I have seen these in use elsewhere and decided to try making one ourselves. At first we did not have much luck - the wick would burn very fast and you would end up with a very small flame. The issue is that a wine bottle is really not the right design for an oil candle. If you think of older oil lanterns, the oil containers are very short but very wide.In a wine bottle, the lower the oil gets in the bottle, less oil gets sucked up the part of the wick that is not under the oil level. The fix is to keep the bottle mostly full. For me, this seems to mean keeping the oil level about 1/2 inch above the label on the bottle. That's obviously a lot of wasted oil, so we fill about 1/2 the bottle with decorative marbles - the kind you might put in a dish as part of a centerpiece. This also has the added benefit of adding weight to the bottle, so it's less likely to tip over. You could also use aquarium gravel, polished rocks - anything that won't dissolve and is... 4/5 Matt W (Parma, OH) - See all my reviews This review is from: Oenophilia Afterglow Bottle Wicks, Beige - Set of 2 (Kitchen) My wife and I have seen these in use elsewhere and decided to try making one ourselves. Not Happy

0 1/5 Candle Fan - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Oenophilia Afterglow Bottle Wicks, Beige - Set of 2 (Kitchen) I will never buy Afterglow bottle wicks again. The wick is too thin in diameter, so once it is soaked with fuel, it will fall through the ceramic wick holder into the bottle. After this happened several times, I gave up and threw both of the wicks away. I was not happy with this product at all. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , February 6, 2012

    Oh, so close

Product arrived well packed and unbroken. Chimney fits standard wine bottles and not much else, requiring a neck of at least 2.5 inches long. Wick is rather short at 10 inches and lacks about 3" from reaching the bottom of most wine bottles. But I filled one with oil and gave it a try. Wick needs to be just poking out of the hole in the ceramic stopper else one gets a lot of smoke (yes, I am using some decent lamp oil). Takes some fiddling to get it set to a compromise between length of flame and soot production. But that only needs to be done once. Cotton, it also needs to soak for about a half hour in the oil to function properly. In an attempt to get around the short wick problem, and not need to maintain a full bottle of oil just to reach the bottom of the wick, I tried various other, shorter bottles such as a long neck olive oil bottle, an unusual premium beer bottle, basically anything approaching the correct shape and mouth opening. All failed for one reason... 3/5 Dave Drury (Okatie, SC) - See all my reviews, October 18, 2011

Works fine, but a short wick makes for a cheap trick

0 4/5 Agapanthus - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Wine Bottle Candle and Glass Chimney (Kitchen) I purchased this item about two months ago and have used it a lot, keeping in mind the online reviews I read before committing to the purchase. I find the flame burns cleanly and the chimney keeps the steady even in a slight breeze. I have not had any problems with smoking that other reviewers commented upon. It is exactly the outdoor table lamp I wanted. However, I must agree with other reviewers about the short wick. It makes an otherwise good product look cheap when the included wick is several inches too short to reach the bottom of the wine bottle, especially when it is advertised as a wick and chimney for a wine bottle. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , July 16, 2012

Cute, not functional. SMOKES BLACK SOOT. Nice idea, poor execution.

First of all this is a great idea. Bought this for a wine bottle that I just couldn't toss given my husbands joy at having found it in a well stocked cellar at a local restaurant. The bottle opening is about 3 centimeters at its narrowest (outside edge to outside edge) but the next ring down on the bottle is where the chimney just stops. It doesn't fit onto the bottle neck. Tried several bottles; all the same. The problem: there are 2 sets of three blown glass "centering bumps" inside the chimney neck. These bumps are uneven, do not keep the chimney centered and prevent it from actually sitting more than a half inch on the neck of the bottle. I clink-clink-jammed it on the bottle neck and shattered one of the blown glass bumps so now it fits onto the wine bottle for the length of the chimney up to the second set of bumps-below-the bell. Not how it should work if you ask me. If your bottle has any part of the neck over 3cm, do not buy this product. Additionally. it SMOKES BLACK... 1/5 C. This review is from: Easy Lamp Kit Turns a Wine Bottle Into An Instant Lamp (Lot of 2) Works well, and the cork/lamp fits most bottles, vodka or beer included. Keep in mind the smaller the bulb the better, particularly if you will not be using a lamp shade. I use mine as a bar lamp in a small vodka bottle, with a stained glass 25 watt bulb or 7 watt for softer lighting - no shade. In fact I had been looking for a long while until I stumbled on them here. They're simply a great way to commemorate special bottles and make a super unique display piece. This particular kit does NOT include the harp, harp base or finial, even though the directions on the package are written to include the harp etc. Also I was replacing the fittings on a lamp made by my late parents from a large, old, earthenware jug. The old kit fit the bunghole. This kit did not include a large enough bottle stopper. So I had to wrap duct tape (3 layers) around the largest stopper provided. Not ideally esthetic, but it works. Directions also a bit difficult to follow, even though I have used these kits before and did basically know what I was trying to do.Didn't know what an "Underwriters Knot" was; but I do now (too complicated a term for "make the wire go the way the screw goes", clockwise). Knew that all along! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , August 9, 2013

    Make a Lamp Kit

0 4/5 Undertaker6x3 - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Bottle Lamp Kit with Adapters This is a pretty good kit, my only complaint would be that the stoppers that go into the bottle opening are just a hair bit smaller then the mouth of the bottle and they end up sitting a little loose. Unle your going to be moving your lamp around a lot, you are not going to notice this though. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , June 12, 2012

    Getting creative with glass bottles

0 5/5 Train "Gorilla" (Houston) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Bottle Lamp Kit Converts Treasured Collectibles Into Unique Lighting Accents (Lot of 2) (Kitchen) Ya.I turn fancy liquor bottles into cute lamps. These kits are great. They supply you with a new cord that is most worthy and a socket that offers a side hole for those who do not wish to drill through glass. The plugs supplied for the bottle opening are perfect. I only wish they were offered extra in various sizes. I like this kit which is why I keep coming back for more.Train 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , June 11, 2011

Turn that nifty bottle into that nifty lamp!

0 4/5 Lovestoast! (USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Bottle Lamp Kit Converts Treasured Collectibles Into Unique Lighting Accents (Lot of 2) (Kitchen) Have you priced lamps lately? am thinking that Tiffany has come back to life and is pricing them all! Yikes! If all you want is a little something to illuminate your bedside table and you always loved the bottle that contained the unusual liqueur your Uncle Fred brought back from France, then this is it! There are three stoppers, allowing you to get a perfect fit. The whole thing is very unobtrusive when put together and you not only get a great lamp, you get to brag when someone asks where you got it! Plus, of course, you get the fun of emptying the bottle in the first place... 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , May 22, 2013

    Solid classy wine cork cage

0 5/5 Dr. Loomis (New Jersey) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Wine Barrel Cork Cage This is one of those situations where you get more than you expected, especially for the price. Its made of strong steel, finely detailed, and looks just like the picture. Its too short to fit a standard bottle of wine in, but thats not its intended purpose. Read the description! Its a cork cage people! Highly recommended for those of us who have graduated from the days of lining our walls with empty beer bottles, liquor bottles and shot glasses. It is time to kick it up a notch, in class, and show everyone what a snobby, alcoholic, wino you are. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , January 9, 2012

Great Item! Well made, large size

0 5/5 Mike - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Wine Barrel Cork Cage My dad loved getting this gift, he loves picking out nice bottles of wine for our get-togethers and he often saves the corks of the bottles he really likes. This is a very nicely made decor piece for that. The metal grape leaves on it are detailed and pretty and the grapes are silvery glass beads - very nice touch. What's also cool is that it's so big, you can store a 750ml wine bottle inside of it too boot if you want (the top of the bottle pokes through the spot where you put the corks in)! Corks are easy to get in through the small hole in the top quickly and the top opens to dump them all out if you want. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , December 22, 2010

    You light up my life

*Disclosure* I was contacted by Satechi and given a free unit for the purposes of reviewingLED lamps and similar products have been out for a while, as have various USB gadgets of all description. So why did Satechi decide to bring this to market? Unlike other LED and/or USB lamps out there, the Touch is made to let you choose what your base will be. Further, when you get bored of the base, you can can change it. According to Satechi, the Touch puts out the same level of light as a 10W incandescent bulb. Looking at it while in operation, this figure seems a bit low, but since I don't have a light meter, who am I to argue. Don't mistake me, the Touch doesn't put out a ton of light. But the light it does provide would be sufficient for some bedside reading, as long as you're within a couple of feet of it. It's perhaps too strong for a night light, but adding some stickers or other materials to the outside should help tone it down a bit. Also unlike some other LED... 3/5 C. *** Step outside the box *** MANY USES for this USB LED LAMP *** Makes a very unique gift ***

I admit, I was a bit perplexed with this lamp at first. It shipped in a smallish 6" cube. It's a featherweight at half a pound. It's convenient with a decent length white USB cord... but.. what to do with it? Ahhh.. it's PERFECT for my husband's desk. I found a pretty wine bottle and had it sitting on his desk when he arrived home. He LOVED the new lamp on his desk! It's perfect so he can see his keyboard in the dark without having the overhead lights adding heat to the room. I found I'm perpetually keeping my eyes open for other neat glass and plastic bottles to try with this lamp. So many are absolutely perfect. So far I've found it sits pretty on wine bottles and many different glass or plastic soda bottles. Remember those 1970s sleek neck glass soda bottles that were stretched to elongate the neck? Those would be PERFECT bottles to give this modern lamp a retro look. Now what to do with it? It sits pretty on the computer desk, plugged into the USB port. Not The Same Lamp As Yesterday...

The appears to be the first of its kind product available on Amazon. There are plenty of lamps, lamps that have USB Ports for charging, however this product is something special. The first thing that came to mind is emergency lighting or camping. This product gives a new take to the `reduce, reuse, recycle' mantra we have heard since the inception of earth day. The premise behind the Satechi Touch USB LED lamp is to use a bottle, whether it is an old fashion Coke-Cola bottle, or the energy drink glass bottle from this morning as the base for your lamp. The features of this lamp really make it a cool product. The manufacture lists the light at 5 watts with a power consumption of only 1.2 watts. I would imagine using this during a storm when the power goes out, having it powered by a... 5/5 JP "J.P." - See all my reviews, May 23, 2013
