The Tale of “The Princess of Fire”, a Teenage Girl’s Bedroom Design Story

Once upon a time, the Design Fairy Godmother had a dream of a beautiful little French Princess with big crystal blue eyes that glittered with fiery moon sparks, as she danced and danced within a glowing ring of Fire, on top of the glorious world,... Gilded mirrors were added, with a large one specifically to aid the Princess in her movement practices. A French Gold Antique mirror added to the wall with candle sconces fed her theatrical nature. A Gifted Interior Design Professional (or fabulous Design Fairy Godmother) will LISTEN intently, and skillfully blend/harmonize your woman-child’s (or man-child’s) wishes, dreams, interest and personality into their cool space and express it WITH... Next, her handy Mom, the Queen, made her beautiful curtains and valance, with a salmon colored damask material, and ivory sheer, found by the Design Fairy Godmother at Designer Fabric Outlet. When designing a teenager’s room, consult and get to know your woman-child or man-child, Prince or Princess. The Princess of Fire embraced her new chambre, her lovely big blue eyes alive with excitement as she engaged the flame of her very being in her new abode, and also— she found it very cool. The big leather salmon chair, a fave of our Princess was a must save fixture in her room and so, we matched our curtains to the color, made a fur blanket (by Queen Mom) and pillows to add a comfortable feeling and look. After lengthy discussion with the Princess, the Design Fairy Godmother came up with a plan to create a bedroom space to nurture (while still containing) this teenager’s fiery creativity. The most important thing is your woman-child or man-child will feel welcomed and inspired by an environment they have put their own imprint on. And that is pure Teen Magic. The Princess of Fire Cha Cha-ed, Rumba-ed , and Samba-ed every chance she had, including practicing while brushing her teeth. The Princess herself strung beautiful sparkling beads and hung them in her window to catch the moon sparks. This Royal Family called in the Design Fairy Godmother, in a desperate attempt to contain their daughter’s glowing expression and try to save what was left of the castle flooring. ) and fun antique decorative details accented her room highlighting her passionate personality. Blazing through her dance repertoire, the Princess of Fire’s burning steps left scorch marks on the Queens new hardwood floors. So to make things easier, give them places to put things– other than the floor—a wall unit with drawers, shelves, desk and other brilliant storage ideas. Salmon colored damask fabric framed the large window in a dramatic window treatment with padded valance made by the Queen Mom. The Design Fairy Godmother fireproofed this woman-child’s room with a magical chant—which was eco-friendly of course. A French Toile bedspread graced our Princess’s bed with custom and art pillows, made and found. It would be a place where the Princess could dance, entertain, create art, do her homework, play music, read from her vast lamb-gut book collection or just rest her weary little head after a long regal day. As the Princess’s skirt whooshed, her hair flying and eyes darting with fiery passion, the Queen’s knickers were in a knot—in fact, many knots. If you must as a result of their current interest, then represent these trends in decorative items, pictures, art, accessories, and later when they are sick of it, sell it on Kijiji. Not only should a teenage bedroom be functional, (plenty of places to help organize them), but must also be a place to escape and hang out with friends. But lo and behold, truth be told, this very child existed, and grew into the most beautiful, passionate and graceful teenage dancer the world had ever known. A French toile bedspread was purchased for her royal bed with custom pillows found in various couture and artistic places. Now Dear Ones, we are all aware of the Design Fairy Godmother’s creative imagination and her attention to detail can be ( oh yes. A black wall can be repainted, crazy posters can be replaced, everything can be changed and will change as your teen evolves and has new interests. The space should reflect their individual personalities, passions and interests, not those of their parents, interior designers or granny-nannys. A favorite bookshelf was painted in ivory white, while her much loved salmon leather chair was adorned with a handmade fur blanket and pillow, fashioned by the Queen Mother herself. In fact, two shades were used to create depth in her space, with ivory white trim to “pop” the color, both by Sir Benjamin Moore. The walls were painted in two shades of a beautiful French Indigo Blue. Oh My Stars. A special place was designated for her guitars (yes she is very musical too. They will come up with ideas from places you couldn’t imagine—-so encourage their ideas and co-create them. In time they refinished their floors, leaving one scorch mark shaped like a heart, a sentimental symbol of their talented, passionate daughter. First the wall color was chosen, like the inside of a flame, a beautiful indigo blue. The Princess of Fire learned to contain her explosive moves and direct them energetically in artistic loving form. These Royal Teens have a lot going on. Their hormones are ranging, body changing, emotions flowing and this is actually a very exciting time in their human development.

Study Greek Mythology?

What is like to study Greek mythology? What can I become if I study Greek mythology? What is it all about?

' Myth ' in ancient Greek means ' word ' , ' narration ' , ' tale ' or ' speech '. It was an antithesis of logos, the word for an objective way of describing an event, following the specific rules of logic. Philosophers would arrive at the truth through logos, while poets, archaeologists, historians or artists of any kind would try to arrive at the truth via mythos. Myths are sacred stories that concern our inner relationship with the divine or the ' unknown '. They are the reflections of our own individual and collective desires, needs and fears. Like mirrors, they remind us of how little we as humans have changed since ancient times. . Myths were recounted long before the advent of writings and form the basis of most of the world's religions, philosophies, literature and art. Thery reveal the powerful expression of the human imagination through the narrative form to create a universal language. Myths are the timeless expression of both the collective and individual imagination and of our need to understand who we are in the universe. As the famous American mythology professor and writer, Joseph Campbell, wrote, ' Myths are public dreams; a dream is a private myth. ' The personification of the natural forces as gods and goddesses was a way of explaining everything from the Sun, Moon, stars and Earth, to thunder, rain, fire and wind. Throughtout world mythology the most common themes involve the creation of the world and its first peoples. There is often a creator god or a cataclysmic event that destroys the first race of mortals and the world is repeopled. For example, there are flood myths from Sumer and Babylonian, the Maya of Central America and the Yoruba of Africa. The retelling of myths provides the basis of a traditional belief system for each culture or civilization. This reflects not only its economic needs, but also its spiritual or religious ones. Archetypal

I'm very interested in Greek myth. It can teach you lessons and is very interesting to read/learn about what ancient Greeks believed to be the origin(s) of concepts, animals, plants, etc. It is about honoring and respecting the world and its processes each as individual things as well as a whole. They are most often honored by acknowledging the existence of the god, goddess, or gods responsible for their creation or the god/gods that look over or represent them. By studying it you could become a history teacher or professor who concerns their teachings around ancient Greek subjects and myths.

Orion XT8 Dob Telescope quality?

I just got my Orion XT8, and I've already asked a few questions regarding my problems seeing any particular feature or detail in planetary viewing. I was told that you should be able to see Saturns rings with the included 25mm plossl, let alone using a 3x barlow with it, yet Saturn just looks like a really bright star. I cannot see any rings. I do see a glimmer of a tannish color, but nothing more. Not even a disk like shape, that I can tell. Mars was the same way. I hear people talking about seeing the cassini division on saturn with my telescope, so why does it look just like a really bright star to me? I am positively sure that I was looking at both Saturn and Mars. I have already done a checklist of any problems that could cause this. The collimation is nearly perfect on my scope. I do not live in a highly light polluted area. There is no fog or dew on my telescope. My eyepieces seem fine. Is my telescope faulty or deffective? Can you see Saturns rings with your XT8 (if you have one)? How well are you suppose to see it through the XT8? Has everyone just been exaggerated the product? Should I contact Orion Telescopes? Any and all helpful answers very much appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Saturn - One thing that you have not mentioned is the focus. This sounds kind of patronizing (unintentionally) but are you sure that you are well focused? You have removed all lens covers? (I left one on once and couldn't figure out why the moon looked so fuzzy - lol!). If Galileo could see the rings (barely) with a 1 inch aperture at 20x, I think you should be able to see something other than what you are describing in an 8 inch aperture at 48x. I do not think you will see the Cassini Division until the rings tilt back up in a year or so, but the planet should not look like a star. Mars should also be - clearly - a small red disk. Saturn might be a little low in your sky, too - which could cause a little trouble. But Mars should be well above any ground clutter. If you are still struggling with the barlow, leave it out entirely! Use it as a decorative plant stand. Your 25mm eyepiece alone with your 1200mm scope focal length provides 1200/25 = 48x magnification, and that is PLENTY to see both Saturn and Mars clearly. The barlow makes it more difficult to get a sharp focus - much more difficult. When you remove the barlow, make sure the focuser is solidly mounted to the scope and that the 25mm eyepiece is fully engaged into it. If you are well focused, then I hesitate to say this, but I still suspect you were aimed at the wrong objects. It is easy to misalign the finder and think that you are looking at one object when you are in fact looking at another. Both of these planets should be very bright in the eyepiece and stand out well from the background stars. Since you mentioned that they are bright, I don't think this is the problem. Did you buy the scope from a local dealer? If so, you can always take it in and let him assist you. I seriously doubt that the scope mirrors are so screwed up that you cannot resolve these planets as disks with a sharp focus. I would rate that as extremely poor optics if that

Saturns rings are nearly edge on now, so chances of seeing them with a small telescope are, well small.. May is the worst time as the rings are at their narrowest. After August the chance to view Saturn will diminish until next year. Just checked prices, $330 for an 8"??. Seems dirt cheap to me. Could be that prices have simply dropped since many years ago when I was an active amateur astronomer. For the XT8 , specs say 0.57 seconds of arc resolution, that's always going to be theoretical, in reality you'll only be close to achieving this with perfect skies and high contrast objects like a stellar binary pair. In 2003, Saturn's rings were at their widest angle, with about 0.7 arc seconds for the Cassini division. Under these favourable conditions you might just have made out the division. But with Saturn, particularly with it's rings not being a high contrast object and the fact that the rings are almost edge on, I am not in the least surprised that you can't see the division... ;o) Despite manufacturers claims, the only true way to test the quality of a telescopes optics ( which can vary batch to batch ) is to find suitable stellar binary pairs ( which have their separations listed ) and see if you can resolve them. And by resolve I don't mean completely into two separate unconnected points of light, two stars are just resolvable if they are visibly touching but you can detect that there is some slight elongation visible. Good luck! ;o)

I have no problem seeing Saturn's rings with my 6" at 88x or 10" at 71x.I suggest you contact a local astronomy club, here is a link- http://www.astronomyclubs.com/ Members can be very helpful in these situations. Wally

I was looking at Saturn a few nights ago through an inexpensive 80mm achromatic refractor, an Orion "GoScope" which sells for $100. At 32x I was easily able to see Saturn as a tiny disk with a line through it for the rings. So with an 8" reflector at 48x you should be able to see it quite clearly. I'm pretty sure you must be looking at a star by mistake. I was not able to see the Cassini Division, not even with my 11-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain, but that is not surprising since Saturn's rings are almost edge on. When they are more open, I can easily see Cassini's Division with 6 inches aperture. Mars is a different situation. Right now it is getting far from the Earth and is very small. In my 11-inch I could see it as a tiny disk and could just see the polar cap at 175x, but that was about it. Have you tried your telescope on any double stars? Gamma Leonis is quite nice at present. You should be able to split this star quite asily with the 25mm and Barlow.
Viola At Neon | Apr 09, 2010
Good scope, strongly recommended. Check it out on the Moon first. Saturn is a distinctive creamy yellow colour in binoculars, and I've seen the rings just fine in a 5" scope. This makes me wonder if you did indeed have the right target. What other targets have you tried? What are you using for star charts? Saturn's rings are almost edge-on at the moment, and it looks like London Transport's logo.
